Over the course of his career, future Hall of Fame quarterback Philip Rivers put up some impressive numbers and had many great years while in the NFL. He made eight Pro Bowls and was near the top of the league's statistical categories nearly every season.
But his team's success was never as consistent, as Rivers' teams never made a Super Bowl in his career. After winning the AFC West in his first four years as a starter with the LA Chargers, he never found that success again as he managed to make the playoffs just three times as a wildcard team, twice with the Chargers and once with the Indianapolis Colts.
A big reason for this was because he dealt with more coaching turnover than a QB of his caliber should go through over the course of his career. Rivers had four different head coaches and six different offensive coordinators in his 16 years with the Chargers, not including the new coaching staff he played with in his one season with the Colts.
No matter who the coach was, the Chargers offense normally put up some great numbers with Rivers under center.
This begs the question, under which coaching staff did Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense find the most success?
Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?
