3. A'Shawn Robinson

Speaking of player that previously played under Brandon Staley. A'Shawn Robinson is one of the many Rams free agents with ties to Staley that hit the market this offseason. Before the team non-tendered Fehoko, it actually seemed more likely that they would go with a different Rams free agent.

Greg Gaines seemed to make more sense on paper if the team was going to retain Fehoko. Gaines has more value as a pass-rushing interior defensive lineman whereas Robinson is more of the run-stuffing variety.

With Fehoko on the roster to primarily only play early downs, the Chargers would have benefitted more from someone who could play on passing downs. However, with Fehoko gone, the Chargers very well could look for someone that could help stuff the run.

Robinson is not quite as impressive against the run as Harris but he is younger and is not on as much of a downswing as the now-former Seahawk. He is also someone who has proven he can play at an elite level against the run, as evident from his great 2018 season with Detroit.

Once again, the Chargers already have Sebastian Joseph-Day and Austin Johnson so they do not need someone who is going to take over the defensive line room. They just need a quality depth piece and because his ties to Staley, Robinson has to be considered.
