5. Tennessee Titans

This is what we call a wild-card team (hence why they are ranked fifth on this article). The Tennessee Titans do not have a lot or projected practical cap space in the offseason, actually coming in the red on Over The Cap. However, the Titans have several outs and cuttable contracts that would open up salary-cap space this season. That, on top of manipulation with signing bonuses and whatnot, could open up some room.

The Titans are not going to open up a massive amount of salary-cap space to sign a big-name free agent. However, could they maneuver their way to sign someone of Nwosu's caliber? Absolutely. So why the Titans out of all of these teams that could try and do the same exact thing?

This is all about connections. The Titans hired Kenechi Udeze as the assistant defensive line coach before the 2021 season. Why is this important? Kenechi Udeze served as the defensive line coach for the USC Trojans for three seasons while Nwosu was playing there.

The team has a connection to Nwosu and they have a need to bring in an edge rusher as well. While Tennessee was not horrible, they pressured the quarterback 24% of the time in 2021, which was the 12th-lowest in the league.

Nwosu has connections to Tennessee, would get to play for a contender and would get to play in a 3-4 defense. The only thing that is not currently there is the money but if the Titans suddenly start freeing up some space, Nwosu could be their guy to target in free agency.
