Threats to steal Mike Williams from the Chargers: 3. Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are in the news right now because they blew their chances of making the playoffs by losing to the Jaguars in Week 18. This has caused some not-so-favorable comments about Carson Wentz by the Colts and the future of the quarterback position in Indy is unclear.
The Colts probably want to get off of Wentz but they really don't have any outs unless they draft a stud quarterback and just pay Wentz to sit. They are not going to pay a second quarterback a big contract so chances are it will be Wentz next season.
If it is going to be Wentz then the Colts need to get him some help. While Jonathan Taylor is a machine and the Colts are at their best when he can run the ball, the last two weeks of the season showed that the team still needs to be able to throw the ball.
The Colts do have Michael Pittman Jr. who has had really great moments with the team but is not consistent. T.Y. Hilton is a free agent after this season and is not much of an impactful player anymore and outside of that, the Colts really do not have much when it comes to the receiver room.
The team needs someone who is going to have an instant impact and this receiving class is not like the last two years. Indy's best chances are to sign a receiver and Mike Williams is right in their price range. According to Over The Cap, the Colts are projected to have $38.4 million in practical cap space.
