4. The Chargers' pass-rush has not been the same without Joey Bosa

Chargers fans were incredibly excited for this new-look defensive line that had one of the best edge-rushing duos with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack as well as a rebuilt interior that would be better against the run. Through two weeks, the results were fantastic and there were big expectations for the rest of the year.

Then Joey Bosa got hurt in Week 3 against the Jaguars and things have not been the same since. Mack is starting to get the same treatment that Bosa got last year and as good as Mack is, he is not in his prime. He was in a much better situation when he had Bosa opposite of him.

The interior defensive line has not been as good against the run as the Chargers would have hoped and they certainly have not been able to generate many pressures. The last two weeks have been particularly disappointing in this regard.

Brissett had as clean of a pocket that a quarterback can have in the NFL. PFF credits the Chargers with 14 pressures in the game but that is being very generous. In those 14 pressures, Brissett was only hit three times.

The Chargers did have a good game against Houston, to be fair, but part of that also has to do with Davis Mills' awful pocket presence. The previous week against Trevor Lawrence the Chargers only had 11 pressures, hitting Lawrence just twice.

Unfortunately, that is going to be the story of the Chargers' pass rush for the rest of the season until Bosa returns. It is going to be consistent and against good offensive lines like Cleveland's, it is going to get smothered.
