The LA Chargers have the 17th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after missing the playoffs and have a good history at that number. Just four years ago, the Chargers picked Derwin James with the 17th overall pick and we all know how that has panned out for the team.

With the 17th pick, the Chargers are right out of the range of the elite prospects in the first round. The top 10-15 typically constitute the "elite" prospects in the draft but as we see every year, surprises are made and players fall longer than expected.

However, there is also the chance that the Chargers really like a prospect with the 17th overall pick that they could get a bit later in the first round. In this situation, the Bolts should absolutely trade back in the first round to get more draft capital. It all depends on what happens in the first 16 picks, but the Bolts trading back could be a possibility.

There are certain teams the Chargers should target to trade down to the 17th overall pick.

Based on team needs and who could be available on the board at 17, we can predict which teams will be the most likely to be in a position to trade down to the 17th pick. The Chargers can predict these things as well and can be sure to get on the phone with these three teams if they think they can get the top prospect on their board later than the 17th pick.

Here are the three teams that the Chargers could target to trade down with in the 2022 NFL Draft.
