2. Stephon Gilmore
Now we aren't flat out saying that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots had a vendetta against cornerback Stephon Gilmore but it sure felt like that. With neither side able to come to a financial agreement before the start of the 2021 year, Gilmore refused to participate in any of the team’s mandatory offseason workouts.
At one point, Gilmore was viewed as the best corner in the league, and considering the season he had this past year, maybe he still is.
In only eight games with the Carolina Panthers and only three starts, Gilmore racked up two interceptions, defended two passes, and registered 16 total tackles, on his way to being named a Pro Bowler for the fifth time in six seasons.
Even as Gilmore continues to age, he still has the foot speed to keep up with younger receivers and the physicality to not get bullied off his spot.
If Rodgers ultimately decides to join the Broncos, he’ll have a few offensive weapons to work with. Most notably, receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. With Gilmore on the field, one of those previously mentioned players will be taken off the board completely. The Chargers should have Gilmore’s number on speed dial if Rodgers makes the move.
