Miami Dolphins: Xavien Howard

Last year’s choice: Tua Tagovailoa

Xavien Howard would offer the exact same dynamic as Tre’Davious White. He would give the LA Chargers a true CB1 and would open up the versatility in the cornerback room. The depth would be fantastic and Brandon Staley could do some truly special things with Howard as part of the secondary.

Just look at how well Brian Flores was able to manage the secondary in Miami. Howard was a big reason why the Miami Dolphins were a takeaway machine last season and Staley, being the defensive wizard he is, could coach the Chargers defense up to a similar level.

I wanted to touch on my choice from last year, Tua Tagovailoa. Most Charger fans would probably laugh while reading this and point the finger at me and tell me I was wrong. Yes, I was extremely high on Tua last season, and moreso than Justin Herbert, but that was not an unpopular opinion to have.

Nobody expected Herbert to be this good. And while some optimistic fans will say otherwise, I can guarantee that nobody penciled in the best rookie season in NFL history for Herbert in year one.

Tua had his struggles as a rookie quarterback and it is completely unfair to call him a bust. However, that being said, the ceiling is obviously higher with Herbert and every team would take Herbert over Tua is they had the choice.
