3. Mike Williams

Mike Williams is entering his final year under contract with the LA Chargers and while he undoubtedly wants to win, he also wants to put together a good season for his next contract as well.

While Williams is the WR2 in this offense he is going to be third-fiddle in targets. Herbert’s massive arm did not lead to an uptick in targets for Williams last season, in fact, it was a downtick from the previous season.

While his overall numbers will go up as it is a 17-game season and we are projecting him to be healthy, Williams is not going to be targeted on the same number of big plays that he was in the last Philip Rivers years. Rivers was throwing those balls up and hoping Williams caught them. Herbert will not do the same.

That being said, I would bet that Williams averages around six targets per game this season. That is not a huge number but with Allen and Ekeler taking up half the targets, five is a fair number for the former Clemson Tiger.

Projected targets: 85
