LA Chargers who need to step up: Jerry Tillery
The LA Chargers had one defensive piece that improved a lot during the 2020 season but will need to take an even bigger step during this next season.
Jerry Tillery improved a lot from his rookie season. He played in all 16 games during the season and started in 11 of them. Tillery had three sacks, which was one more than his rookie season. He also has 22 quarterback pressures, 12 quarterback knockdowns, 14 quarterback hits, and 30 combined tackles.
The biggest problem during the season was the penalties that Tillery collected during that season. He had a total of eight penalties. Half of those happened before the ball was snapped and happened at the line of scrimmage. The other half of the penalties were illegal hits or use of his hands. Lastly, three of those penalties happened on third or fourth down.
If Tillery is going to start and help the team make a Super Bowl run, he’s going to need to make a big step. Having more production and fixing his penalties problem will be huge for the team.
All of these players improving and having big 2021 seasons just might give this Chargers team the push they need to win the Super Bowl at home.
