LA Chargers 53-man roster predictions, linebackers:

  1. Kenneth Murray
  2. Drue Tranquill
  3. Kyzir White
  4. Emeke Egbule
  5. Nick Niemann
  6. Cole Christiansen
  7. Amen Ogbongbemiga

There is a lot of potential for the linebackers in Los Angeles in 2021. I personally do not love the depth options that the Chargers have to offer but anyone past Emeke Egbule is going to be restricted to mostly special teams duties.

And the make-up of Niemann, Christiansen and Ogbongbemina (undrafted free agent) all make them good options to help in the special teams department.

The best-case scenario is that Egbule does not see the field that much as it would mean that the Chargers are not only healthy, but have the comfort of playing Derwin James in the box because of the safety play alongside of him.

The trio of Kenneth Murray, Drue Tranquill and Kyzir White is something to get really excited about. Murray is a future Pro Bowler and is the leader of this group, Tranquill was primed for a breakout year in 2020 before getting hurt in Week 1 and White can hold his own in pass-coverage at the linebacker position.

Losing Denzel Perryman hurts but if Murray takes the year two jump and Tranquill is who we expected last year then the Chargers are just fine at the linebacker position.
