The LA Chargers have the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and Charger fans have been debating what the team is going to do with the pick. Many fans (including myself) believe that the team should draft a left tackle with the 13th pick, while others want to see the team draft a cornerback.

Then there is the small assortment of fans that wants the team to draft the best player available, which could be a wide receiver in Jaylen Waddle. This would not only be a huge mistake, but I have Waddle going to the Philadelphia Eagles in my first-round mock draft.

But what if the LA Chargers move down from the 13th overall pick?

The LA Chargers already have nine picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and as the saying goes: the rich get richer. The Chargers traded up in the 2020 NFL Draft and if the right circumstances exist, the Chargers could absolutely go the other direction in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The reason to do so is simple. The Chargers are somewhat thin and trading down in the first round will give the team more early draft capital to fill out the depth.

So what exactly needs to happen for the LA Chargers to trade down in the 2021 NFL Draft? Let’s get into it.
