Re-signing Michael Davis – WIN for the LA Chargers

Easily one of the most important LA Chargers free agents to hit the market, the Chargers re-signing Michael Davis was a big win for the team.

Davis was easily the spotlight of the Chargers’ secondary last season. Throughout 2020, he had three interceptions and 14 pass deflections. Along with that, he had 48 solo tackles and 64 total tackles. He also played in all 16 games during the regular season, which is amazing for a team with horrible injury luck.

Davis was the bright spot of that struggling secondary and it was clear to see that he was going to be a solid corner for years to come. With Casey Hayward getting cut and Chris Harris getting older, this was a very important signing.

While the Chargers hopefully will draft a corner in the first three rounds, this signing was the start of something special in that position. Letting Davis walk in free agency would’ve been the worst-case scenario for the team.

Overall, with this resigning, Derwin James coming back from injury, Nasir Adderley stepping up, and hopefully, a young corner coming in from the draft, this secondary could be a young and fun group to watch and hopefully can make a big step in the right direction.
