Best Chargers moments at San Diego Stadium: 6. Philip Rivers’ 200th career touchdown pass
The Chargers hosted the Dallas Cowboys at Qualcomm Stadium in September 2013. Philip Rivers had a monster day, throwing for over 400 yards and three touchdowns. The biggest moment of the game was when Rivers hit Antonio Gates for a 56-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Bolts a nine point lead and essentially put the game away. T
he Chargers had over 500 yards of offense in this game, as the Cowboys had pretty much no answer for Rivers & company. Gates ended up having 10 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. What’s funny about this milestone coming against the Cowboys is that Rivers’ 100th touchdown pass also came against the Cowboys the last time they played them four years earlier.
Rivers always had success against the Cowboys, going 3-0 in his career against them. He won in Dallas in 2009 and 2017 (Thanksgiving Day game) and of course won this matchup at Qualcomm Stadium in 2013.
Rivers however did not get his 300th touchdown pass in the 2017 matchup against Dallas, as he already hit the mark a year earlier in a game against the Miami Dolphins in South Beach. His 400th touchdown came as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
