Best Chargers moments at San Diego Stadium: 7. Largest comebacks in stadium history

Both of the Chargers’ largest comebacks at San Diego Stadium came with the two greatest quarterbacks in franchise history, Dan Fouts and Philip Rivers, leading the charge. On October 9th, 1983, the Chargers were down 21-0 in the second quarter in a home game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Dan Fouts & company eventually found their footing in the second quarter, as Kellen Winslow caught a touchdown pass to cut the halftime deficit to 21-7. The second half was all Chargers, as the shutout the Seahawks 21-0. The game was sealed with an Andre Young 40-yard pick 6 late in the fourth quarter.

The Chargers managed to score the final 28 points of the game en route to a 28-21 win. Then on September 13th, 2015, Philip Rivers and the Chargers fell behind 21-3 to Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions in the season opener.

Antonio Gates was inactive this game because he was serving a four-game suspension. His replacement, Ladarius Green; had five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Rivers, who threw for over 400 yards and two touchdowns, ended up leading the Chargers to score 30 unanswered points at one point en route to a 33-28 win.
