Rayshawn Jenkins: Cleveland Browns

I really like Rayshawn Jenkins as a player. We saw progressing out of Jenkins that was really promising in 2021. While he did have some games that were not great, he also had some really impressive games that out-weighed the bad.

I predicted Jenkins to get a three-year, $15 million contract this offseason and I do not think that is something the Chargers would sign with everything else the team has to figure out. Right or wrong, I think Tom Telesco is going to bank on Derwin James being healthy, Nasir Adderley taking a year three step and any depth they pick in the draft.

That means that Jenkins will play elsewhere in 2021 and the team that seems like the best fit is the Cleveland Browns, who are fresh off of a playoff berth and need help in the secondary.

Karl Joseph is a free agent for the Browns this offseason and it is going to be interesting to see what they do with him. Joseph had a solid first season with the Browns and paid himself into a pay-raise with the team.

Bringing back Joseph and signing a cheaper, established safety like Jenkins might be the best move for the team. Jenkins has the versatility to play either safety spot and would give the team someone who can produce right away, not someone they have to mold as a rookie.

According to Over The Cap, the Cleveland Browns currently have $20.7 million in cap space with only $500,000 in dead cap.
