Potential fourth-round target for the LA Chargers: Sage Surratt
Sage Surratt is someone who has LA Chargers written all over him and it is perfect for the Bolts. He is likely going go on day three, giving the team four picks to address other needs before addressing a potential hole left behind by Mike Williams.
I would not be shocked if the team took Surratt even if Williams stayed on the roster in order to develop him for a season in limited time to take over for Williams in 2022. He has all the makings of being someone who the Chargers fall in love with.
First of all, he projects to have a very similar role to Williams. He has the size at six-three and he has the sure hands to be an X receiver in a vertical offense. But it goes deeper than that with Surratt, who is ranked as the 123rd prospect.
Surratt has that character trait that the LA Chargers love. That is why they drafted someone like Joshua Kelley and why they fell in love with both Justin Herbert and Kenneth Murray in the first round.
Character really seems to matter to Tom Telesco and Surratt is not only a great leader but has a great mind — something that indicates a great football mind and the ability to learn quickly as well.
Surratt was the valedictorian at his high school and was even accepted into Harvard before deciding to go to Wake Forrest.
He did not play in 2020 but he did put up monster numbers the last time we saw him. In 2019, Surrat caught 66 passes in nine games for 1,001 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is someone who probably would have benefitted from playing in 2020, but that is good for the Chargers as they can steal him in the fourth.
If there is one receiver that I think is the most likely to be drafted by the Chargers it is Surratt.
