3. Brian Hoyer

We have reached the end of the list and if you are disappointed to this point then I am sorry. Simply put: the LA Chargers are not going to get some exceptional backup quarterback with the situation they are in. They just need someone who can be a veteran for Justin Herbert while also having some game experience. That is it.

Hoyer fits the bill. He has plenty of NFL experience and has spent time with various different teams throughout his career. He is going to be an extremely cheap signing and can teach Herbert some of the things that he has learned behind the quarterbacks he has played with.

Most of Hoyer’s value comes from his experience with the New England Patriots. Hoyer has spent a combined six seasons with the Patriots across four different stints and not only knows the Patriot way but saw Tom Brady up close and personal.

Hoyer knows what a winning culture looks like and he has seen his team firsthand get to the Super Bowl and win it all. If there is anyone that could help Herbert with the preparation of the game, it is Brian Hoyer.

Next. Why Justin Herbert will be the league MVP in 2021

Hoyer has not been downright terrible when has played and if an emergency happens and Herbert misses a few weeks then I am hopeful that Hoyer could at least keep the ship afloat.
