RB: Marlon Mack
Marlon Mack probably isn’t coming back to Indianapolis. A torn Achilles ruined his 2020 season after just one game against Jacksonville. Jonathan Taylor then proceeded to explode for the Colts with Nyheim Hines still being a quality receiving back.
The Chargers have a few running back questions to answer this offseason. Justin Jackson has just one year left on his deal and the last two seasons have unfortunately been riddled with injuries for him. Joshua Kelley is still a huge question mark while Kalen Ballage is a free agent that tailed off after one explosive Raiders game.
There’s a concern to be had with his Achilles injury for sure, but he’d also be pretty inexpensive. His size provides a nice contrast to Austin Ekeler and Jackson. By no means is Mack a power runner per se, yet he’s pretty decent at breaking tackles.
Explosiveness was a great quality of his in 2019 as well. Mack registered 15mph speeds on 51 rushing attempts, which was top five amongst running backs. Chargers fans are familiar with that:

We’ll have to see how his lower body will ultimately hold up in 2021. At the cost you can probably get him at though, he’s a nice bargain bin option that contrasts well with their current group.
