Free-agent wide receivers the LA Chargers could target: 2. Breshad Perriman

Breshad Perriman could be a sneaky good pickup for the LA Chargers. He is in the same boat as A.J. Green where he should not cost the Chargers that much in salary-cap space but unlike Green, you could make the case that Perriman’s best days are in front of him, not behind him.

The 27-year-old receiver has bounced from team to team thus far in his career but he has put together two sneaky good seasons despite not having the greatest quarterback play. Perriman had Jameis Winston throwing his passes in 2019 and Sam Darnold and Joe Flacco throwing him passes in 2020.

Over the last two seasons, Perriman has a combined 66 receptions for 1,150 yards and nine touchdowns. What makes Perriman a good fit on the Chargers is that he is the big-bodied vertical deep-threat option that Williams also provides.

Perriman is averaging 17.4 yards per receptions over the last two seasons compared to Mike Williams’ 18.1 yards per receptions. Perriman may not be six-four, but at six-two, he still provides good height for the Chargers at the position.

And once again, he is cheap. Over The Cap estimates Perriman’s value to be $4.3 million. The Chargers could give Perriman a two-year contract with a club option for 2021 that is not guaranteed that would pay him $5 million in 2022 and $4 million in 2021.
