LA Chargers: Potential exciting offensive coordinators for Brandon Staley

3. T.C. McCartney
If you have no idea who T.C. McCartney is I do not blame you. He is a fresh coaching face in the NFL and is only 31 years old. He worked together with Staley in Denver as he was the quarterbacks coach of the Broncos in 2019. He was fired after the season and is now an offensive assistant on the Cleveland Browns.
This is more than just being a connection to Staley from their days in Denver, though. McCartney has coached under some of the greatest offensive minds in the league right now and that is what makes him so exciting.
Most notably, he has been with Kyle Shanahan in two different stints. He was first with Shanahan during his sting with the Browns and then joined Shanahan in San Francisco in 2017. He spent two seasons with the 49ers as an offensive assistant and quality control coach.
That is not the only big-name offensive mind that he has worked with. McCartney was also a graduate assistant with the Colorado Buffaloes in 2012 and 2013. Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was the offensive coordinator at Colorado in 2012.
The NFL is moving towards hiring young coaches and McCartney is someone who has experience coaching under some great offensive minds and could potentially have a really great relationship with Justin Herbert.
McCartney has football history running through his veins. His grandfather is Bill McCartney, who coached at the collegiate level for 21 years and is now in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Is Brandon Staley a good hire?. Next
It would be an interesting hire, but one that I would be hopeful would work out.
