Potential LA Chargers free-agent targets: Trent Murphy

Sadly, Melvin Ingram most likely played his last season with the LA Chargers this past year. I have high hopes that Uchenna Nwosu can be that guy to replace Ingram at the defensive end position. Though, the problem is that the position would lose a veteran that could help the younger guys develop. That’s why giving some money to a veteran like Trent Murphy could be a good signing.

Murphy has played with two teams in his 6-year career. He played with both the Washington Football Team and currently plays for the Buffalo Bills. In his career, he has collected 26 sacks, 33 tackles for a loss, 66 quarterback hits, and 7 fumble recoveries.

I believe Murphy could be a nice and probably a cheaper veteran piece the Chargers could use at the backup defensive end position. Melvin Ingram will probably want more money as he would probably want “starter” money. Murphy also is a year younger than Ingram and can still bring in his NFL knowledge for the younger defensive end core.

Hopefully, if the Chargers re-sign Issac Rochelle, both Murphy and Rochelle could be amazing backups for the Chargers. Who knows, if the Chargers hire Brian Daboll, we could see a Bills reunion.
