Potential LA Chargers free-agent targets: William Jackson III
Michael Davis arguably will be one of the top defensive free agents of the season, especially with the Chargers’ older cornerback field. One top player who is pretty young and could replace him could be William Jackson III.
A cornerback from the Bengals, Jackson has had a pretty quiet career with the Bengals. In his four seasons with the Bengals, he has 3 interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, 5 tackles for a loss, and 41 pass deflections.
This year alone, Jackson’s Pro Football Focus grade ranked 21st among 123 qualifying cornerbacks. Along with that stat, no receiver posted over a 100-yard game against Jackson as well as only 39% of all passes thrown Jackson’s way has been completed.
In my opinion, both Davis and Jackson will probably want a decent amount of money this free agency. If the Chargers could test the fields, it would be interesting to see how much each corner would want.
Davis is younger, which could be a positive, but he has had his good and bad moments this last season which could be the deciding factor for the Chargers. Overall, the Chargers could get a low key signing with William Jackson III if they decided to target him.
