3. Drafting Justin Herbert (and the rest of the 2020 draft class)

Again, there are going to be a lot of Justin Herbert moments on this list. On April 23, 2020, the LA Chargers put the future of the franchise in the hands of a kid from Eugene, Oregon and struck gold.

We can all pretend that we knew Herbert was going to be good but we didn’t. Charger fans were so split on Herbert, he had the raw tools coming out of college but did not have the most impressive film at Oregon.

He has been a completely different quarterback at the NFL level and now the Chargers can be comfortable knowing that the franchise is in good hands. There will be no quarterback carousel. This is Justin Herbert’s team.

We knew it was a big deal in the moment but it is even bigger of a deal now that we know that Herbert is legit. We all should be thankful that Telesco did not buy the hype on Jordan Love, because who knows what would have happened if he was starting this season.

Some teams search years for franchise quarterbacks and the LA Chargers went from the greatest quarterback in franchise history to another bonafide franchise quarterback. About that…
