2. Re-sign Hunter Henry

The LA Chargers are going to be in a bit of a cap pinch next offseason. While the team has the seventh-most cap space for the 2021 season, they also only have 34 players signed and have some key decisions to make.

One of those decisions is whether to re-sign Hunter Henry to a new contract and the Chargers absolutely should bring Henry back to continue being one of Justin Herbert’s favorite passing targets.

Henry might not be the top-five tight end that us Charger fans hyped him up to be but he is a very solid tight end that is great both in the passing game and is a solid blocker. The Chargers knew this, but the biggest question was whether he can stay healthy or not.

Henry has stayed healthy and is putting up a really solid season. He has proven to be one of Justin Herbert’s favorite targets and is likely going to finish the season with 700 receiving yards and at least five receiving touchdowns.

There are around 5-6 tight ends a season that put up those kinds of numbers. With other needs to address in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chargers cannot afford to spend high draft capital on a tight end and will not find the same production right away in the later rounds.
