1. Gabe Nabers & Bobby Holly

This is two cuts in one but the fact that it is two cuts is what makes it surprising in the first place. Gabe Nabers and Bobby Holly were both battling for the fullback position on the LA Chargers, which was wide open with the departure fo Derek Watt.

A lot of the staff here at Bolt Beat liked Holly to win the job but it was not like Nabers was a bad choice. When it was reported that Holly was cut on Friday many Charger fans penciled Nabers in to be the team’s starting fullback.

Instead, we were shocked to learn that Nabers would also be cut, leaving the Chargers without a fullback.

However, Nabers has been brought back to the practice squad and it appears as if the Chargers are going to take it in a case-by-case basis. Perhaps he will be activated in particular matchups or if someone in the running back room underwhelms.

The Chargers are not completely foregoing the fullback position but they are not using it on a full-time basis. This still is an interesting strategy for a team that is going to be run-dominant in 2020, hence why it was a surprise.
