2. 1.5 interception percentage

The biggest advantage that Tyrod Taylor has over Philip Rivers is that he does not turn over the ball nearly as much, which is a big thing for the LA Chargers. The Chargers were a really talented team in 2019 with the main problem being that the team turned the ball over way too much.

Rivers was the main perpetrator, throwing 20 interceptions and having a 3.4 interception percentage. Rivers loved the heave the ball up deep and that led to interceptions.

Taylor has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league in now turning the ball over and he has to continue that career trend for the Chargers to be successful. Taylor simply has to match his career 1.5 interception percentage.

If it is higher than that then there will be a problem. Taylor would essentially be losing his biggest advantage and he is not someone that is going to beat a team with his arm, as Rivers would. If you lose that advantage and start to turn the ball over (even if it is not as much as last year) then the team will again lose close games.

This seems like a given for Taylor and he does deserve the benefit of the doubt in achieving this milestone. However, there is one component that is outside of his control that will influence this number, which gets into our third milestone number.
