2. Chris Harris is not the slot corner

Right now, the expectation is that Chris Harris is going to be spending most of his time at the slot corner position. That is where he broke into the league and where he is really effective from, especially this late in his career.

There is no reason to expect Harris to spend most of his time anywhere else. It has seemingly been the team’s plan all along.

New #Chargers CB Chris Harris said GM Tom Telesco, head coach Anthony Lynn and DBs coach Ron Milus all told him he would be playing in the slot this season.

"That was the main thing that they brought to me," he said.

However, while that might be the plan, plans do not always end up happening and the Chargers might have to move Harris around out of necessity if it warrants it.

The main reason why this could happen would be the uncertainty at the second outside corner position. That battle is between Michael Davis and Brandon Facyson. Davis has shown promising signs and we can be hopefully optimistic that one of the players will break out, but it is not a guarantee.

If both are struggling at camp, and a certain someone by the name of Desmond King looks like 2018 Desmond King, then it might just be in the team’s best interest to play Harris on the outside and have King spend time in the slot.

The best-case scenario is that one of Davis or Facyson steps up and allows Harris to stay in the slot, allowing King to fit into the Adrian Phillips’ role on the defense.
