LA Chargers 53-man roster prediction, cornerbacks and safeties:
- Casey Hayward
- Chris Harris
- Desmond King
- Michael Davis
- Brandon Facyson
- Trevaughn Campbell
Casey Hayward and Chris Harris are the only two corners that have concrete jobs heading into camp, the rest is up for grabs. Many assume that Michael Davis and Brandon Facyson will be competing for the second outside corner spot, which is likely, but is not a guarantee.
I would not be surprised if Anthony Lynn instead has Chris Harris play outside and Desmond King in the slot if Davis and Facyson look bad in camp. Of course, the Chargers are much better off with Harris in the slot and King in the Adrian Phillips-type role, but that could happen.
Trevaughn Campbell makes the cut as the last cornerback on the roster because of his speed. He is one of the five fastest players on the LA Chargers.
- Derwin James
- Rayshawn Jenkins
- Nasir Adderley
- Alohi Gilman
The real battle to watch for here is between Rayshawn Jenkins and Nasir Adderley, who are going to be battling for the free safety position during training camp. Out of any position battle on the roster, this is probably the one that is the most up in the air.
Alohi Gilman doesn’t really have any shot of starting on the Chargers and probably won’t even play that many defensive snaps in his rookie season. However, he is going to be a solid contributor on the special teams side of things, making him a valuable player to keep around and watch grow.
