LA Chargers 53-man roster prediction, linebackers:
- Kenneth Murray
- Drue Tranquill
- Denzel Perryman
- Kyzir White
- Nick Vigil
- Malik Jefferson
- Emeke Egbule
The Chargers have a really interesting linebacker group that has a lot of potential heading into the 2020 season. Every Charger fan should be excited to see Kenneth Murray, who should be starting on the defensive side of the ball in Week 1, play.
Murray might have his holes in pass-coverage but he is an uber-athletic, super exciting player to watch on the defensive end. He flies around the field and is going to be a great asset to the defense in plugging the running lanes, something that is going to bode really well for the overall outlook of the defense.
Drue Tranquill is the name that a lot of people have been watching as a potential breakout candidate this season and I cannot say that I disagree. With the really good tape that Tranquill put together last season and a healthy, dynamic defense, he should thrive in his second year.
Denzel Perryman is weirdly efficient when the team uses him in certain situations and I like that they took Murray to lessen the workload of Perryman to get the most out of him. He absolutely makes the roster.
Kyzir White and Nick Vigil will both see consistent defensive snaps in the linebacker rotation, even if they are seeing the field less than half of the time. Both guys will play key parts in the defense for sure.
Finally, we have Malik Jefferson and second-year Emeke Egbule as the depth options that likely won’t see the field much unless there is an injury.
