LA Chargers in the 99 overall club: LaDainian Tomlinson, 2008, 2009
We tried to build the suspense as much as we could but you absolutely knew this was coming. LaDainian Tomlinson is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, is the best player in franchise history (if not 1B behind Junior Seau) and is a big reason why a lot of people are currently Charger fans.
Tomlinson’s run during the mid-2000s not only provided the most dominant fantasy football stretch of all-time but also helped build the Chargers’ fanbase as well. This was easily the most successful stretch in franchise history and Tomlinson was the main reason why.
Tomlinson was the best running back in the league at this time and that is the reason why he has been a member of the 99 club twice in consecutive editions of the game in 2008 and 2009.
However, realistically, Tomlinson should probably be a three-time member of the 99 overall club. He was rated as a 97 in the 2007 edition of the game despite it being a year after his miraculous single-season touchdown record.
While he was still great in 2007 and 2008, what did he do in those years to push himself from a 97 overall to a 99 overall that he already did not prove in the 2006 season?
