LA Chargers coaches with the most to prove: John Lott

Many Charger fans may not know who John Lott is — he is the head strength and conditioning coach of the LA Chargers and has been with the team since 2017 when they hired Anthony Lynn to be the new head coach.

First of all, there is the obvious problem that the Chargers always seem to have in having so many injuries. Some of that falls in the preparation with Lott, but a lot of football injuries are simply freak accidents that happen because football is a contact sport. That is not why he has a lot to prove.

The reason why Lott has a lot (ha, get it?) to prove this season is that every single NFL team is dealing with unprecedented circumstances and the teams that are better equipped to respond to those circumstances are the ones that are going to succeed.

That starts with the strength and conditioning coach. Getting these guys in football shape in such a unique offseason is going to be a challenge and if Lott can rise to the challenge then his stock as a coach is going to rise exponentially.

Ndamukong Suh once said that the strength coach is one of the most important on the staff as he helps establish the culture of the team, as players spend more time with the strength coach than any other coach outside of the head coach.

Stealing one player from each NFC East team. Next

That is going to especially be true in 2020 with everything else going on and the LA Chargers need John Lott to step up to the challenge and deliver.
