5th pick, trade, Detroit Lions select: Auburn IDL Derrick Brown

Talking about Becton just being that Gettleman pick, well, Brown is just that Matt Patricia pick. Build up that front seven into a dominant force, and I think that’s just too tough for Patricia to pass up. It would give the Lions a roster that can be feared. Teams wouldn’t want to try and run on that front seven, and the same would go if the Lions had taken Simmons.

You can sell me on Okudah, but I just don’t think the Lions a star corner enough to take Okudah. Perhaps they do, but they would’ve made it work with Slay and safety Quandre Diggs. Regardless, the Lions are getting a dominant player here. Brown accumulated four sacks, two forced fumbles, and 55 total tackles in 2019.

With Trey Flowers and Derrick Brown teaming up with Jamie Collins and Danny Shelton, this front will be formidable, and in a division where you have Aaron Rodgers and Dalvin Cook across the line of scrimmage, it will be important to apply pressure and stuff the running lanes.

Brown excels at both of these things, applying interior pressure, and absolutely wrecking a gameplan, especially if it involves movement from the guards.
