3. Melvin Gordon, 2015

Chances are that Melvin Gordon‘s career with the Los Angeles Chargers is over, making him susceptible to fall lower on this list in the coming years. However, as of now, Gordon is the third-best player the Chargers have drafted in the last five years.

That is saying something as well as when Gordon is healthy and firing on all cylinders he is one of the five best running backs in the league. He only put together one such year where he was the cream of the crop, but he was great in most years with the Chargers regardless.

Gordon was a Pro Bowler in 2016 and 2018 and it was his 2018 season that was the most impressive. While he only posted 885 rushing yards because he played 12 games, he set a career-high in both rushing yards per game and receiving yards per game.

In all honesty, Gordon should have at least been a three-time Pro Bowler, as he was snubbed in 2017, and might have even put together a Pro Bowl season in 2019 if he did not hold out for the first four weeks.

However, his holdout gave Austin Ekeler a bigger stage to thrive and led to his four-year, $24.5 million extension, so the fans shouldn’t be complaining.
