Chargers get their star left tackle back from injury
First of all, it’s just great to see that the Chargers’ star left tackle is healthy. The team sorely missed him, but his health is priority number one and there was real doubt he would play at all this season. Thankfully, it all worked out and the former Pro-Bowl tackle only missed seven games and is now back and healthy. The team had said before the game he would be on a limited snap count, but that was not the case as he actually played most of the game.
Rewatching the Chargers-Bears game for my final takeaways piece, which will be out tomorrow. But this is a tweet devoted to offensive tackle Russell Okung and how much of a difference-maker he is for the offensive line as a whole. pic.twitter.com/4a1YOsmR3V

While Trent Scott had performed admirably, it’s just not fair to him to expect him to play at the level of a guy like Okung. The team missed Okung, not just for his ability as a player but his leadership as well. On Sunday, he provided a stabling presence for the Chargers’ offensive line. The Bears have one of the best pass rushes in the league (led by Khalil Mack), but Okung and company were mostly able to neutralize them, only giving up one sack all afternoon. If that wasn’t evidence enough of how well he played in his first game back, Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 84.2 on the day. That is a fantastic grade for a left tackle going against one of the premier pass rushers in the league.
