Donte Moncrief

For whatever reason, things have not worked out for Moncrief with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Through four games, he’s dropped more passes than he’s caught. It’s quite likely that the Steelers are considering parting ways with Moncrief by just cutting him, so the Chargers could get him for next to nothing.

Moncrief has been bad in the Steel City, but he’s an experienced wide receiver who could come in and give the Chargers an extra target to get the ball to. Though Patton has a lot of upside, he hasn’t been in the kind of games that Moncrief has. He has over 200 career catches, more than 2,500 receiving yards and 21 career touchdowns. He’s played in three career playoff games and is also just 26 years old.

Unlike many wide receivers around the league who are currently on an NFL roster, this is one the Chargers wouldn’t have to give up an arm and a leg for. The Steelers would probably just want to get something, anything in return from a failed free-agent signing.

In Los Angeles, Moncrief could come in and be the No. 3 wide receiver or at the very least, provide an experienced option should Benjamin continue to struggle. If Telesco wants to go cheap (and he usually does), this would be a cost-friendly option.
