Chargers grades: Continued

Special Teams: C

We’ve been here before, Chargers fans; many, many times before. A game that would have been an easy win had the Chargers just had a quality kicker. We thought they had solved this problem with the arrival of “The Money Badger”, and yet here the team is, 1-1 due in large part to the inaccuracy of one right leg.

A rough day for feel-good story Ty Long, missing from 41 and 39; by no means chip-shot kicks, but ones that Chargers fans are helpless to think Michael Badgley would’ve made. Thankfully, it seems that Badgley’s inactive stint will end next week, and Long should remain on the team as a kickoff specialist and punter, both roles where he has performed well.

As for kickoff and punt returns, Desmond King didn’t return any punts, but did average 23.5 yards on his two kick returns. King should stay in the role as his big-play ability on returns was on display often last year.

Overall Grades:

Offense: B-

Defense: B+
