Chargers: Final AFC playoff seeding predictions

General manager Tom Telesco has done a great job building the roster. The Chargers are still loaded with talent at every other position. Joey Bosa is finally healthy heading into a season and seems extra motivated to remind everyone just how good he is.

The additions of Thomas Davis and Jerry Tillery should elevate an already elite defense. Hunter Henry is also healthy and gives Rivers one of the best trios of pass-catchers in the league with receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

Before the holdout drama of Gordon, injuries to Okung and James, I had the Chargers winning 11 games and returning to the same Wild Card position they were in last year. I think 10 wins is more realistic now, but that still should be good enough to make a return to the playoffs as a Wild Card team.

So here are my final six teams that I think will make the playoffs:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs, 13-3 (Could be 14-2 if they manage to sweep the Chargers again)
  2. New England Patriots, 12-4 (no surprises here)
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers, 11-5
  4. Houston Texans, 10-6
  5. Los Angeles Chargers, 10-6 (the first six weeks will be crucial to set the tone)
  6. Jacksonville Jaguars, 9-7

Next. Why the Chargers don't need to pay a franchise running back

Just missing the cut: Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. Let us know who you think makes the playoffs in the comments below.
