Wide receiver (6)
Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Travis Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman, Andre Patton, Geremy Davis
Cuts: Artavis Scott, Jason Moore, Justice Liggins, Malachi Dupre, Jordan Smallwood
The first four slots here should pretty much be a given. The team was likely thrilled to be able to bring back Inman and his signing meant bad news for the receivers battling for the final spot.
Davis will likely make the team because of his ability to help out on special teams but in a perfect world, it would be Patton and Scott getting the last two spots. That said, it’s likely that the last spot comes down to either Patton or Scott and if that’s the case, give me Patton, who I already made the case for not long ago.
Tight end (3)
Hunter Henry, Virgil Green, Sean Culkin
Cuts: Vince Mayle, Matt Sokol, Ben Johnson
The tight end spot is pretty cut and dry. Henry and Green were always going to make it. There was some question about the No.3 spot. Could one of the guys down on the depth chart overtake Culkin? Would the team bring back the legendary Antonio Gates?
At this point, the answer to both of those questions seems to be no. However, the tight end spot looks a lot better than it did last year at this time now that Henry is back and fully healthy.
