Three undrafted rookies make the team
It’s not uncommon for undrafted rookies to make the Chargers’ roster. After all, the Bolts have a streak of 22 consecutive years with an undrafted rookie making the team, a streak that includes names like Antonio Gates and Austin Ekeler.
But three undrafted rookies making the team is a big number. Some roster spots have opened up due to injuries. Derwin James will start the year on injured reserve and that opens up the opportunity for UDFA’s like Adarius Pickett and/or Roderic Teamer to make the team.
Chris Peace pressured the quarterback constantly throughout the preseason and was the only Chargers defender to notch two sacks.
Those are the three guys with the highest odds, but a surprise can’t be ruled out. Jeremy Cox quietly played a good preseason. He only saw 12 touches (6 rushing attempts and 6 receptions), but he made the most of them as he had the highest yards per carry and highest yards per reception among all running backs. His chances to make the team are very slim, but he has at least earned a spot on the practice squad.
