The Los Angeles Chargers will open the preseason on Thursday night with a trip to Arizona.

It’s preseason and the games don’t count in the standings and the starters will only play a series or two, but it’s still football, and that’s more than we had yesterday. Besides, hardcore fans know that the preseason isn’t actually meaningless.

Sure, the level of play generally decreases with each wave of players that enters the game, but these players are looking to make the most of every play on the field in order for their playing careers to continue. It also gives fans a chance to become more familiar with players they may not know much about or haven’t seen play.

This is the first game of the preseason, so we won’t see much of the known stars. Instead, the players you will see on this list will be those looking to prove they belong. For that, we will be drawing from the team’s first official depth chart, which was released earlier in the week.

There are several things to watch for in this game and players to keep an eye on and while the result of the game may not matter, there are players with plenty to prove coming right out of the preseason gate.
