Los Angeles Chargers: Predicting team’s 10-man practice squad

Ty Long gets a chance to keep kicking
Ty Long, punter: Long is a player who can fill in as a punter behind Tyler Newsome or even as a placekicker should something go drastically wrong with Mike Badgley. Assuming Newsome beats him out for the punting job, the Chargers will hang onto Long because of Newsome’s inexperience.
Daniel Helm, tight end: An undrafted tight end out of Duke who could easily make the 53-man roster over Sean Culkin, the practice squad is a worst-case scenario for Helm, who could be developed into a solid No. 2 or No. 3 tight end.
Chris Peace, defensive end: Good pass rushers don’t grow on trees and this is a guy with a lot of upside. Peace registered 16 sacks in three seasons at Virginia.
The Chargers have Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram and multiple linebackers that they will use to chase after the quarterback this season. Peace provides a solid backup option that the team can develop into a more complete player.
