Los Angeles Chargers: Pre-camp 53-man roster projection

Quarterback (3)
Philip Rivers, Tyrod Taylor, Easton Stick
Cut: Cardale Jones
Potential surprise cut: Stick
There should be no real surprises here, outside of the team keeping three quarterbacks which has been something the team hasn’t really done. That said, the team also hasn’t had a young prospect to groom for awhile and as I explained here, Stick will have to be a part of the 53-man roster.
Stick likely won’t dress for most games as the Chargers have one of the best backups in the league in Taylor, but because Rivers hasn’t missed a single game since 2006, the plan is that the team won’t really need either guy on the field this season.
Taylor provides a terrific insurance policy while Stick may represent the future. Of course, the Chargers could see Stick in training camp and preseason games and decide he’s not what they’re looking for and cut him loose, opening up another roster spot.
That seems unlikely though.
Jones is just going through the motions at this point and likely won’t get a lot of work this summer as the team will be more focused on what it has with the other guys. His best bet is to do enough to convince another team to give him a shot.
