Andre Patton, Wide receiver

Undrafted out of Rutgers in 2017, Andre Patton has spent the past two seasons on the team’s practice squad. This will be a make-or-break summer for him and he is reportedly ready for that challenge.

At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Patton is the kind of lengthy receiver that teams love to have these days. Philip Rivers has always favored the taller targets in the passing game, those who can go up and high point the football. If anyone can speak up for Patton’s spot on the team, it would be No. 17.

But first, the two will have to display good chemistry and create a solid on-field connection. The door is open for Patton, as the No. 4 wide receiver spot on the roster is one of the biggest opportunities this team has.

Assuming that Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin are on the team, then the likes of Patton, Geremy Davis, Artavis Scott, Dylan Cantrell, Justice Liggins, Jason Moore and Fred Vermillion are likely competing for two spots.

You have to like those odds for Patton.

In his college career with the Scarlet Knights, Patton hauled in 90 passes for 1,164 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged nearly 13 yards per catch.

An athletic receiver who has spent the last two seasons with the organization, it will be tough to drop Patton this summer.
