No one on defense had a bigger impact with the Chargers than Derwin James did last year.
Whether it be by tackles, interceptions, or sacks, James had a hand in seemingly almost every play. With his off-the-charts instincts, No. 33 was able to have one of the most impactful rookie seasons in recent Chargers history.

The Chargers featured another three victories that may have been the game of the year in any other season. The wins in Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Baltimore were all significant historical moments for the franchise, but none could top how important this game was to the Chargers and their fans.

Five Chargers who need to avoid injury this season. Next
Philip Rivers turned in one of the best seasons of his entire career, leading the franchise to a fantastic 12-4 record in 2018. As a leader, Rivers helped his team overcome deficits in Pittsburgh and Kansas City, two of the most difficult games of last season. Whether it be in Baltimore, Seattle, or even London, No. 17 found ways to help his team win by becoming a more efficient passer in a powerful offense. If not for a disastrous performance by his offensive line in the Divisional Round, Rivers may have finally reached the Super Bowl for the first time in his career. Fans can only hope he gets a similar shot this season.
