Week 8 at Chicago Bears

The Chargers will renew acquaintances with Khalil Mack, who they used to see twice a season when he played for the Oakland Raiders. The Bears will be a hungry team out to make a statement after a bitter end to an otherwise terrific 2018 season.

Though Vic Fangio no longer runs the defense, there is no doubt this will be a tough defensive test for the Chargers, who will have to travel to Soldier Field at the end of October. There’s a chance they’ll have to deal with some elements as a result, though the game will kick off in the morning.

The Chargers have won just once in five tries in Chicago. That came all the way back in October 1970.

Week 9 vs. Green Bay Packers

There is no way the Packers can be excluded from this list, even if they have a first-year head coach and don’t seem to be the threat they were even a few years ago.

The simple reason for that is the Packers are a team that historically, the Chargers can’t beat. Now you might say that doesn’t mean much since they are inter-conference foes who only face off once every four years. But it also can’t be ignored.

These two teams have faced off 11 times before and 10 of those times, the Chargers have taken the “L”. The Chargers’ only victory against Green Bay came back in October 1984. The quarterback of the Packers in that game was Lynn Dickey and the game was actually played at Lambeau Field.

The Packers have never lost to the Chargers in California.
