Los Angeles Chargers release Caleb Sturgis and it is time to celebrate. Super Bowl!

There was more doubt in me that the Los Angeles Chargers would release Caleb Sturgis than any doubt I had in the game yesterday. I don’t know why we hung on to Sturgis for so long, but we finally have reached the end of the story!

Adam Schefter is reporting that the team is going to release Sturgis, but there still is not a report on who the Chargers will use moving forward. Who will be the Chargers kicker going into the week?

The Chargers used Michael Badgley while Sturgis was injured and he made all the damn kicks. He is on the practice squad and would be the most likely move for the team. I will be worried about his kickoffs though, but at least we will be getting some accuracy back in the kicking game.

I do wonder if the team will bring in some kickers to try out this week. Cairo Santos would be a player I would be interested in. He is a veteran kicker and has a better leg than Badgley.

Some people are not too concerned about the kickoffs, but in a game of field position, it is going to hurt. We also don’t need to kick the ball off to players like Tyreek Hill and Cordarelle Patterson when we get into the playoffs. We would be calling for Badgley’s head as soon as we did that too. I would rather squib it when we face off against them.
