5 tight ends Chargers could sign following Henry’s season-ending injury

Fans of the Los Angeles Chargers have heard this before. A key player has been lost for the season due to injury. This time, the month of June hadn’t even started before the team received catastrophic news.
On Tuesday, the Chargers received word that Hunter Henry tore an ACL during a drill at OTAs and will likely miss the remainder of the season. The team is looking for a second opinion.

The injury creates a gaping hole at tight end for the Chargers and is particularly frustrating for Henry, who missed the last two games of last season with a lacerated kidney.
Suddenly, the Chargers are in the market for a tight end to help Philip Rivers in the passing game. The team signed Virgil Green via free agency this offseason but he is not a great option in the passing game as his strength is as a blocker.
Here, you will find a list of players the team could consider after hearing this terrible news. You might not find any of these options to be particularly exciting, but let’s be honest, the tight end depth is weak behind Henry.
Aside from Green, the Chargers have Sean Culkin, Braedon Bowman and a pair of undrafted rookies, Cole Hunt and Ben Johnson.
With that all in mind, let’s take a look at some guys currently on the street who could come in and give the Chargers more experience at the position.
