Despite injuries across the roster, players like Melvin Gordon and Casey Hayward had breakout seasons in 2016. Which players will make a leap next season?
2016 was undoubtedly a trying season for the Los Angeles Chargers. You’ve heard about the wide array of injuries countless times since the season ended. You’re well aware that injuries are the predominant factor in the team’s poor showing last year.
Nevertheless, 2016 did see several players have the best season of their career to date.
Melvin Gordon was three yards away from 1,000 yards rushing on the season before injuries cut it short. Tyrell Williams finished the season with over 1,000 yards receiving despite being the fourth receiver on the depth chart coming into the year. Casey Hayward finished with a league-leading seven interceptions and was awarded team MVP last year.
Who is slated to open some eyes next year? Three players, in particular, look to be in for a surge in production in 2017 and can be major building blocks for the Bolts in the near future.
