The San Diego Chargers will be taking on the Tennessee Titans in their first game of the preseason, but one upcoming wide receiver will take no part in Saturday’s exhibition match.
According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, wideout Tyrell Williams is inactive due to leg tightness. He is one of 11 Chargers inactive tonight.

Williams, a 2015 undrafted free agent, has been turning heads in training camp while running with the first-team offense. Even though it’s unfortunate not to see him carry over his performance into the first game, it’s a precautionary move by the Chargers.
Another receiver will sit out, too, and that’s free-agent acquisition Travis Benjamin. Benjamin has missed a few practices as of late, so it’s smart to keep him from aggravating what seems like a minor injury. Recent pickup James Jones will have his chance to prove his worth.
It’s also disappointing not being able to see hybrid Jatavis Brown play tonight, as he was also getting first-team reps in camp. Manti Te’o and Denzel Perryman, who missed the beginning of camp, will be your starting inside linebackers.
The Chargers are already without first-round pick Joey Bosa, who is currently holding out, and now defensive linemen Tenny Palepoi and Sean Lissemore won’t be suiting up. It’s going to be interesting to see how this line holds up in the first game.
And the offensive line will be without starting guard Orlando Franklin and center Spencer Pulley. Franklin got his leg rolled up on the other day, but he appeared to have avoided a serious injury. Pulley has reportedly been playing well, so missing this game doesn’t help. 2016 third-rounder Max Tuerk will likely get a good amount of reps, so he’ll be a player to watch.
